The Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group's mission is to protect and enhance the genetic diversity and populations of Wild Salmon in Hood Canal by the protection and restoration of habitat, stewardship and research for watershed and marine ecosystems, community education and outreach and any other means appropriate. Adopted in 1990, modified in 1999, 2002 and 2003. This is an amazing organization with some wonderful staff and volunteers. Folks from all over the Pacific Northwest are involved with this Group and their efforts to positively impact salmon runs and water quality. As a band member, Janet toured with Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mack, and that's only where the credits begin. She not only is a great singer-songwriter, but she smokes on her guitar. After five years of serving as President of the Executive Board for Washington State Surfrider, I resigned because I became so busy with music that I simply could not give this great organization the attention it deserves. I'm guessing only a small percentage of Americans know and appreciate how much Surfrider does for our environment. Please visit the Surfrider website and read about the many ways this organization is fighting to protect the natural habitat of our beaches, oceans, and waterways. From holding town hall meetings to litigating in the courts, Surfrider is fighting to prevent toxic coastal development, damaging coastal armoring, ill-prepared response and emergency services in the case of oil spills--and so much more. You don't have to be a surfer to get involved and support Surfrider.
